Pille Rünk is Managing Director and producer at the PSN Baltics Partner – one of the most active and vibrant production and service houses of the region – operating from its base in Tallin, Estonia since 1995. 

As a company partner, Pille’s producing experience has ranged from production service to international co-production of feature films and creative documentaries. 

The Republic of Estonia will celebrate its centennial in 2018.  The PSN Baltics Partner will mark this milestone with its production of a full-length epic drama entitled “Truth and Justice”.

Oscar-nominated Estonian director Tanel Toom has based his script adaptation on the Estonian literary classic of the same name written by A.H Tammsaare.  The film will premiere across the homeland February 2019 at the end of Estonia’s 100th anniversary.

While the charms of European locations are widely known, there remain lesser explored corners of the Old Continent where fresh locations welcome filmmakers and photographers working with a wide range of budgets.

If you’ve not yet considered shooting in Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania, PSN Baltics Partner Dagmar Mae has more than a few reasons that you’ll want to do so for future film and photography projects.  In this recent interview she reveals some of the treasures that await creatives in her homeland. 

Q: What do you think brings foreign producers to the Baltic countries? 

A: The Baltics are the great secret of Northern Europe; which in the recent years is making a distinct mark as an attractive filming location. 

What brings foreign producers here is our capability to provide interesting locations combined with cost effective prices and a ‘straightforward’ attitude.

The PSN Baltics partner has joined forces with 3 other Estonian production houses and the Estonian Film Industry Cluster to build the biggest studio complex in the Baltic Sea area.

The production hub called Tallinn Film Wonderland is set to open at the end of 2018 in Tallinn’s Kopli district. The aim of the joint venture is to offer a unique blend of opportunities to develop the local film industry as well as to improve export potential and cooperation between companies close to the industry. 

Foreign production companies already familiar with our beautiful nature, historically multi-faceted architecture, and experienced and hardworking teams will find the new indoor facilities position Estonia to attract a broader range of projects.

Coupled with the 30% of cash rebate for foreign productions, we are looking to make Estonia the next hotspot for film production in the Baltic region.  KFTV recently caught up with our partner Ivo Felt for some more insights.
