Spain now provides a tax credit for non-Spanish projects that are completely or partly made in the country. Commercial productions are not eligible. The incentive targets cinema and film, scripted TV, animation, and gaming.
A minimum production spend of €1 million in Spain is required to benefit from the 15% tax credit. That incentive can increase to 35% tax credit on production expenditures made in the northern Spanish region of Navarre and the Canary Islands.
Rebates are made to the Spanish production service company working locally with the foreign production company. Government payback can be expected 18 - 24 months after the production wrap and successful presentation of an audit. Earlier credit towards the rebate may be negotiated with PSN Spain.
These are the fundamental parameters. Precise details are best explored on a case-by-case basis so don't hesitate to reach out to us with your project's details. We aim to maximize the savings available to your foreign production in Spain.
As one of the production service companies registered by Spain's Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), we are also positioned to discuss co-productions eligible for Spanish and European assistance. It is helpful to note from the outset that periodic selection processes only make this approach practical for qualifying productions with all needed documentation prepared for submission a full year before shooting. Local film financing options can also be explored.
Write us with details about your project and the form of assistance you seek. We're here to help bring your project to shoot with us in Spain.

'A brilliant, efficient team helped us with the location scouting, permissions and setup,' says Bang Bang Films Head of Production Cyrus Mendes.
Indian producers aiming to meet a quick turnaround deadline on a limited budget also relied on us to deliver local cast that consumers of the brand would identify with.
Making Europe viable was a priority for Bang Bang's Founder and Managing Director Roopak Saluja. 'Shooting in Western Europe has generally proven to be out of reach for Indian budgets. But we found Spain to be very reasonable,' he concludes.
