The Modernist Time Capsule
Eritrea is one of the most visually arresting yet under-explored territories in the world. Its capital, Asmara, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a living museum of Italian Futurist and Art Deco architecture, featuring iconic structures like the Fiat Tagliero Building and Cinema Impero. Beyond the urban “time capsule,” the country offers the steam-powered Eritrean Railway—which snakes through dramatic mountain passes—and the pristine, untouched coral reefs of the Dahlak Archipelago in the Red Sea. Its high-altitude plateaus and the rugged, “moon-like” landscapes of the Danakil Depression provide a raw, cinematic scale that is impossible to replicate elsewhere.
Eritrea is a “closed” environment where success is entirely dependent on meticulous diplomatic and logistical navigation. There is virtually no local equipment or crew infrastructure; however, our Nairobi-based team bridges this gap with continent-wide expertise. We manage the delicate No Objection Certificates (NOCs), secure mandatory travel permits for locations outside Asmara, and coordinate the complex technical imports required to meet international expectations. We provide the “Red Sea” logistical spine that ensures Eritrea’s incredible visuals are captured with absolute reliability and safety.
