Veteran producer Nicolas Bétrancourt brings the world to France. Decades of experience shooting award-winning commercial films and music videos in his home country have served him well during recent years …

[cont.] dedicated to providing great crews, amazing natural sets, and the guilty pleasure of a glass of wine or two or three with filmmakers and photographers from all over the planet. Because what’s the point of shooting in France if you don’t enjoy wine at the end of the day, honestly?

Nico, as he is widely known, was born in Le Havre, France, in the 60’s. Facing Southampton, not so far from Liverpool, he could be considered the 6th or 7th Beatle. Really! His choice of images over music may have cost recording studios a rising star, but the film industry got a hell of a producer instead.

As a young producer, Nico surfed the late 80’s wave of advertising and music videos working at Premiere Heure, the hippest production company in town. This fiery chap got involved in no less than a thousand of ad films and music videos and even won the very first award for a music video in France.

Later established with a bunch of mavericks under the famous flag « C’est La Vie Productions » in Paris and London, Nico enlivened the 90’s with the most popular music videos and advertising films of the decade.

But as most all great rock’n’roll bands, C’est La Vie Prod’s skyrocketing success sputtered out, and Nico took his life back as he embarked on a new millennium.

Nigeria

The Pulse of Global Afro-Culture

Nigeria is a cinematic powerhouse, home to Nollywood, the world’s second-largest film industry by volume. Its singularity lies in its raw, kinetic energy and diverse textures: from the hyper-modern skyscrapers and restless markets of Lagos to the ancient, red-walled city of Kano and the lush, mist-covered Obudu Plateau. Nigeria stands out as the definitive destination for capturing the “New Africa” aesthetic—a mix of high-fashion urbanism and deep-rooted tradition.

Navigating a territory as fast-paced as Nigeria requires more than just local knowledge; it requires the strategic oversight of our Nairobi-based team. We bring continent-wide experience to bridge the gap between Nollywood’s “guerrilla” speed and the technical rigors of international studio standards. From managing Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) permits and specialized security protocols to coordinating “A-list” equipment imports for high-end TVCs and scripted dramas, we ensure your production matches the global scale and success foreign filmmakers expect.

Kenya | Location

Kenya

The Command Center of East African Cinema

Kenya is the undisputed engine of East African production, offering a visual diversity that ranges from the neon-lit “Silicon Savannah” of Nairobi to the prehistoric majesty of Hell’s Gate and the infinite plains of the Maasai Mara. It is a territory of “firsts”—the world’s only capital city with a national park, the thundering drama of the Great Migration, and the Swahili soul of Lamu Island. For filmmakers, Kenya isn’t just a location; it is a versatile “multi-world” hub capable of doubling for almost any tropical or savannah setting.

Our Nairobi-based team is the heart of our regional operations, offering an unparalleled “home-court” advantage. We have every filmmaking resource at our fingertips—from “A-list” local HODs and elite casting pools to the region’s most advanced gear houses featuring Alexa and RED packages. We navigate the Kenya Film Commission permits in as little as 48 hours and manage the 1% non-refundable customs bonds with surgical efficiency. Whether it’s a high-octane commercial or a major feature, our local presence ensures your production matches the world-class scale and success the “Silicon Savannah” is known for.

Ivory Coast | Location

Ivory Coast

The Versailles of West Africa

Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) is a visual masterpiece of architectural ambition and tropical grandeur. Its political capital, Yamoussoukro, is home to the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace—the largest church in the world—surrounded by grand, livestock-traversed boulevards that offer a surreal, cinematic scale. In contrast, the economic hub of Abidjan provides a “Manhattan of Africa” skyline with brutalist icons like La Pyramide, while the UNESCO-listed Grand-Bassam offers haunting French colonial ruins reclaimed by nature. For natural spectacle, the Taï National Park preserves one of the last primary rainforests in West Africa, providing a lush, prehistoric backdrop.

While the territory is aesthetic gold, navigating the Ministry of Culture permits requires a sophisticated approach. Our Nairobi-based team brings continent-wide experience to manage the temporary equipment bonds (as a non-Carnet country) and the specialized drone clearances. We bridge the gap between local resourcefulness and international expectations, ensuring your production in the “Ivorian Riviera” is as seamless as it is spectacular.

Tasked to kickstart Magnum’s 2025 Cocoa Strategy to empower women in cocoa farming communities of Ivory Coast, LOLA MullenLowe called on PSN to locally execute a comprehensive list of deliverables under remote direction while minimizing environmental impact.

“The cocoa fields located in the rural areas of Ivory Coast are undoubtedly one of the most spectacular but also complex destinations we have ever had to shoot in,” writes Oscar Fernandez-Baca, Account Director for Magnum, Lola MullenLowe.

“We wouldn’t have been able to put this together without PSN’s expertise, on ground and local know how and diligence,” adds Head of Production Lola MullenLowe, Felipe Calviño. “To be able to help support and empower Ivorian women is a reward in itself but the groundwork required to put together the film and assets was just as fulfilling.”

The resulting portraits of more than 100 women farmers provide the invaluable authenticity on which AI was employed to create the very first digital brand ambassador, AWA. Ivorian designer, Rebecca Zoro, dresses her with a limited line of fashion accessories on sale here to generate funds that will be invested 100% into local cocoa farming communities.

“The campaign’s success would not have been possible without PSN’s incredible work,” concludes the Magnum Account Director. “Huge thanks to them and to all the production partners involved. We will definitely count on PSN for future trips.”

Ghana | Location

Ghana

The Gold Standard of West African Visuals

Ghana is the vibrant heartbeat of West African cinema, offering a seamless blend of historical depth and modern energy. Filmmakers are captivated by its singular landmarks, such as the haunting UNESCO World Heritage castles of Cape Coast and Elmina, the lush canopy walkways of Kakum National Park, and the “village on stilts,” Nzulezu. Its capital, Accra, provides a dynamic urban palette of glass-and-steel skylines contrasted with the rhythmic, colorful chaos of Makola Market, making it a versatile hub for both period epics and high-gloss commercials.

While Ghana is remarkably film-friendly, projects of scale require an experienced hand to navigate National Film Authority permits and the mandatory Film Work Permits for foreign crew. Our Nairobi-based team applies its continent-wide expertise to bridge the gap between local “Kumawood” resourcefulness and international technical expectations. We manage the temporary equipment bonds, coordinate with local tribal authorities for village shoots, and ensure the logistical precision necessary to match the high standards of a global production.

Ethiopia | Location

Ethiopia

The Land of Origins and Vertical Scale

Ethiopia offers a visual landscape unlike any other on the continent, characterized by high-altitude drama and ancient, rock-hewn history. Filmmakers are drawn to its singular icons: the rock-cut churches of Lalibela, the medieval castles of Gondar, and the “Mars-on-Earth” sulfur springs and lava lakes of the Danakil Depression. For wildlife and adventure, the Simien Mountains provide “The Roof of Africa” aesthetic, home to endemic Gelada baboons and jagged peaks that reach over 4,500 meters.

While the visual potential is vast, Ethiopia is a complex territory for shoots of scale, requiring rigorous Media Authority accreditations and careful navigation of regional safety. Our Nairobi-based team guides you through these intricacies with continent-wide expertise, ensuring that expectations for technical quality and safety are met. We manage the specialized Journalist Visas, equipment clearances (as a non-Carnet country), and the strict drone permit process, providing the sophisticated logistical bridge necessary to turn Ethiopia’s ancient wonders into a production success.

Eritrea | Location

Eritrea

The Modernist Time Capsule

Eritrea is one of the most visually arresting yet under-explored territories in the world. Its capital, Asmara, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a living museum of Italian Futurist and Art Deco architecture, featuring iconic structures like the Fiat Tagliero Building and Cinema Impero. Beyond the urban “time capsule,” the country offers the steam-powered Eritrean Railway—which snakes through dramatic mountain passes—and the pristine, untouched coral reefs of the Dahlak Archipelago in the Red Sea. Its high-altitude plateaus and the rugged, “moon-like” landscapes of the Danakil Depression provide a raw, cinematic scale that is impossible to replicate elsewhere.

Eritrea is a “closed” environment where success is entirely dependent on meticulous diplomatic and logistical navigation. There is virtually no local equipment or crew infrastructure; however, our Nairobi-based team bridges this gap with continent-wide expertise. We manage the delicate No Objection Certificates (NOCs), secure mandatory travel permits for locations outside Asmara, and coordinate the complex technical imports required to meet international expectations. We provide the “Red Sea” logistical spine that ensures Eritrea’s incredible visuals are captured with absolute reliability and safety.

Cameroon | Location

Cameroon

Africa in Miniature

Cameroon is often called “Africa in Miniature” because it contains every major landscape found on the continent within its borders. Filmmakers prize its incredible geographic diversity: the thundering Ekom-Nkam Falls (the iconic Tarzan backdrop), the volcanic peaks of Mount Cameroon, the surreal “lunar” mountains of Rhumsiki, and the pristine Atlantic beaches of Kribi where waterfalls tumble directly into the sea. Its urban centers, like the hilly, verdant capital of Yaoundé and the industrial port of Douala, offer a range of textures from colonial elegance to gritty modernism.

While Cameroon offers an entire continent’s worth of visuals, navigating its limited infrastructure and complex ministerial permitting requires an expert hand. Our Nairobi-based team brings continent-wide experience to your shoot, bridging the gap between local Cameroonian fixers and international standards. We handle the multi-ministry clearances and equipment logistics, ensuring that this visual “gold mine” is captured with the precision and success your project demands.

Sri Lanka

A Natural Backlot for Cinematic Ambition

Sri Lanka is often described as “a film set made by God,” offering a concentration of diverse landscapes—from misty tea plantations and prehistoric jungles to colonial-era railways and sun-drenched coasts—all accessible within a few hours’ drive. With a history of hosting legendary productions like The Bridge on the River Kwai and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, it remains a veteran hub for epic storytelling and high-concept commercials.

The Production Reality:

Visual Chameleon: Sri Lanka is a master of doubling. Its diverse terrain can seamlessly stand in for Thailand, India, Vietnam, or even the Caribbean. The architectural mix of Dutch, Portuguese, and British colonial structures provides a timeless European/Asian hybrid look.

Streamlined Permitting: The National Film Corporation (NFC) has optimized the international permit process, often granting approval within 7–14 days. As an ATA Carnet country, importing specialized gear is a standard, hassle-free procedure.

Net Production Cost: Sri Lanka remains one of the most cost-effective territories in Asia. The “savings” are found in the competitive local labor rates and affordable scouting.

Our Role: We provide your logistical anchor, bridging the gap between the island’s raw beauty and international technical standards. Our  local team specializes in the high-stakes logistics of the Sri Lankan interior—managing everything from elephant safety on set to the complex permits required for the iconic Nine Arches Bridge. Much more than a fixer; we provide a western-standard production spine in a territory where local knowledge is the difference between a successful wrap and a logistical deadlock.

Reach out with details about your project so we can evaluate how it’ll come into focus in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan | Location

Pakistan

Untamed Scale and Logistical Grit

Pakistan is a destination for filmmakers seeking absolute visual authenticity and “untouched” epic scale—from the prehistoric peaks of the Karakoram to the lunar deserts of Balochistan. However, it is a high-stakes territory that demands meticulous planning and a specialized logistical spine.

The Production Reality:

Exceptional Cost-Efficiency: Pakistan is one of Asia’s most budget-friendly hubs. While there is no formal western-style cash rebate, the “natural incentive” is the unmatched purchasing power of the dollar/euro.

The Logistical “Barrier to Entry”: The primary challenge is the administrative and physical infrastructure.

Permit Complexity: Foreign crews must navigate a rigorous No Objection Certificate (NOC) process. This requires direct coordination with multiple ministries and local authorities, a task that requires a seasoned local partner.

Infrastructure Gaps: Outside of major hubs like Karachi and Lahore, roads and power grids are minimal. Filming in the “epic” northern areas is an expeditionary feat, requiring robust mobile camps and specialized mountain logistics.

Technical Reinforcement: While local “Lollywood” crews are resourceful, high-end technical gear (specialized glass, heavy-lift drones, or precision grip) often needs to be imported via ATA Carnet from regional technical hubs to meet international standards.

Our Role: We act as your “Risk Management” layer. Our local team doesn’t just find the location; they manage the security protocols, navigate the NOC bureaucracy, and bridge the technical gaps by sourcing elite bilingual crew and specialized gear. We ensure that while your production captures Pakistan’s raw majesty, it does so within a secure, western-standard operational framework.

Mongolia

Untamed Authenticity and High-Stakes Rewards

Mongolia offers a cinematic scale that is increasingly rare: endless steppes, the shifting dunes of the Gobi, and the rugged Altai mountains. It is a destination for filmmakers seeking absolute authenticity, where the landscape isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a character.

The Production Reality:

The Blessing: Mongolia is one of the world’s last truly untouched frontiers. It provides a raw, “epic” aesthetic that is impossible to replicate in more developed territories. For 2026, it offers one of the world’s most aggressive incentives—a cash rebate of up to 45% (30% base + 10% cultural bonus + 5% foreign talent).

The Curse: Outside of Ulaanbaatar, infrastructure is minimal. There are few paved roads, limited power grids, and no “off-the-shelf” luxury. Logistics are expeditionary; you are often filming in a world of nomadic gers and satellite phones.

Technical Logistics: While Mongolia is an ATA Carnet country, the local equipment pool is nascent. High-end specialized tech—technocranes, precision optics, or advanced grip—must typically be flown in from regional hubs.

Our Role: We navigate the “Blessing and the Curse” by providing a western-standard logistical spine for your Mongolian expedition. We manage the mandatory MNFC (Mongolian National Film Council) applications to secure your 45% rebate and bridge the technical gap by sourcing elite crew and gear through our regional networks. We don’t just find the location; we build the camp, the comms, and the safety net required to film in the heart of the steppe.

Maldives: Pristine Visuals, Reinforced Logistics

The Maldives is the world’s premier “natural studio” for luxury lifestyle and high-end fashion, offering unmatched turquoise lagoons and white sandbanks. While the visual payoff is immense, the archipelago possesses minimal local filming infrastructure, making technical execution a significant challenge.

Bridging The Production Reality

Technical Supply Chain: To overcome the lack of local equipment, we manage Maldives shoots through our established hub in Sri Lanka. We ship “A-list” camera, lighting, and grip packages from Colombo to Malé within hours, ensuring your shoot has the technical depth of a mainland production.

Expert Manpower: We augment the small local crew pool with experienced Sri Lankan HODs and maritime specialists who are accustomed to the unique demands of island-to-island logistics.

Marine Coordination: Filming across 26 atolls requires surgical precision. Our team manages the complex marine transport—speedboats, seaplanes, and dhonis—and handles the mandatory National Centre for the Arts (NCA) permits and customs clearances.

By bridging the gap between Maldivian aesthetics and Sri Lankan technical resources, we provide a seamless, western-standard production environment in one of the world’s most remote locations.
